As the sole interprofessional body for Champagne wines (formerly CICV), the Comité Champagne, a semi-public organization representing all Champagne houses and growers (272 million bottles produced in 2024, 50 percent of which were exported), is tasked with safeguarding the interests and economic balance of the Champagne sector. One of its key missions is to promote and enhance the appellation. In this context, the interprofessional body has recently launched two new training programmes dedicated to hospitality professionals: “Champagne Spécialiste” and “E-Learning Champagne”.

The first, delivered in person, is structured around four core themes: an introduction covering tasting fundamentals, food and Champagne pairing including the ideal match presented through a fun workshop; the Champagne terroir with a hands-on session entitled The Champagne Game; the traditional method with the workshop The Cellar Master; and finally, a section devoted to service, storage and best practices through a dedicated session for wine merchants. The next in-person session at EVS Paris is scheduled for 23 and 24 February 2026.

The second programme, E-Learning Champagne, is a free online training course that has attracted more than 5,000 participants since its launch in spring 2025. It offers games, questionnaires and quizzes, creating a fun and educational learning environment for mastering the essential foundations of the appellation.

“Online training allows us to reach as many people as possible, free of charge. Providing three learning levels ensures a clear progression path so that everyone can find the level that suits them best”, explains Stéphanie Martel Carlier, Head of Champagne Education.
