The rising star
of the Côte des Bars

The Maison Jacques Chaput introduces us with its new cuvée, L'Authentic, the latest of the salamander range. More accessible, L'Authentic echoes the brand’s Jewel, the Cuvée Grande Réserve, and pleases most of us. The Jacques Chaput champagnes keep gaining renown, shining a light at the same time on the
Côte des Bars nationally and internationally.

Cuvée l’Authentic

In preparation for more than five years, this cuvée is made of 25% of rigourously selected wine aged in oak barrels. Once blended with reserve wines, it then reaches perfect balance, combining nice complexity and fineness without excessive woody notes. “I wanted an easy-to-drink champagne for our customers” Jacky Chaput explains. “To me, L’Authentic is an 'easy' wine as it seduces both great experts and amateurs. It is obvious and uniting.”
Plain and modern, L’Authentic has a clear visual aspect, abundant bubbles and a great sharpness as well as a true roundness on the palate. Nevertheless it reveals subtle aromas of white flowers and fruits (pear, plum, acacia). On the palate, notes of butter and honey, with a vanilla-scented finish, and a very nice length, will seduce the most demanding.
The salamander, royal emblem used by François Ist, associated with the motto “Nutrisco & Extinguo” (fuel the good fire and extinguish the bad), is updated by the House Chaput. Of old rose color for the Cuvée L'Authentic, it discreetly settles on the wire muzzles, the corks and the labels of the whole range.

The pleasure to promote one's products

In July 2009, the House Jacques Chaput, located at Arrentières, hosted more than 5,000 visitors during the “Route du Champagne en Fête” week-end festival. From tastings to visits of the cellars and vineyards, this concept created by wine growers is that, every year, several villages of a neighbourhood animated and present festivities dealing with Champagne. An opportunity Jacky Chaput could not miss: “I always loved promoting my champagne and my region.”
The House Jacques Chaput also gains reputation abroad. Its champagnes have recently been selected by a famous Italian crystal designer to promote his products on a series of events in Italy.
A “Blanc de Noirs” champagne, produced from 100% Pinot Noir, has been ageing for three years. A first vintage should be available by the end of this year. On the Right Bank of the Côte des Bars, “the Pinot Noir expresses itself straight away and stays the course. We want to set off the specific terroir of the Aube and the Bar-sur-Aubois area.”
