The festive Montlouis-Sur-Loire

When it comes to partying, the sparkling, and the sweet, mellow or semi-dry Montlouis-sur-Loire are ready. These great white wines are the fruit of a subtle alchemy between the Chenin—or Pineau Blanc from the Loire—only varietal of the appellation, the terroir, and the wine grower.

THE SPARKLING MONTLOUIS-SUR-LOIRE,
CALLED “DE FINES BULLES”

The appellation has two categories of ‘fine bubbles’: the Montlouis-sur-Loire Traditional Method and the Montlouis-sur-Loire Original Sparkling, created in 2008, which has less than 5 g per liter of residual sugar, i.e. the equivalent of a Brut Nature or a Non-dosed.

They provide you with a beautiful sensation of freshness, for the aperitif or with a meal. Their delicate effervescence, their aromas of white-fleshed fruits, of balm, nut and sometimes roasted almond are marvellous, as long as they are served fresh but not ice cold (8-10°C) because a too low temperature would take away all their flavour.

THE SWEET OR SEMI-DRY MONTLOUIS-SUR-LOIRE

Tender, supple, the semi-dry seduce with their aromas of ripe fruit, their fatness, and for the best of them, by a body that sustains freshness and optimizes the ageing potential in the cellar, although they already are delicious within the two years after the harvest.

The sweet Montlouis-Sur-Loire astonish the connoisseurs by their golden colour, their richness and their concentration. They generally are sustained by a lovely natural acidity which guarantees a long ageing that can exceed thirty years. They express a wide aromatic palette: quince, exotic fruits, zest of citrus, lime-flower honey, beeswax, white truffle, and gingerbread … Genuine treasures that perfectly match all dishes with exotic hints. Serve them at 10°C to fully enjoy their richness.
