The “Ruinart Sommelier Challenge” took place this May at Maison Ruinart. For this seventh French edition, four blind wines were presented—and the unique feature this year was that they were all red wines! An original theme for the competition, which also required food and wine pairing suggestions, along with recommendations for ideal serving temperatures.
For this 2025 edition, the winner is a local! Congratulations to Brice Beuzeville-Loiseau, Head Sommelier at Restaurant Racine in Reims. Bravo as well to all the candidates who came from across France. See you in 2026!
Sadly, just a few weeks later, we learned of the tragic passing of Frédéric Panaïotis, who had served as Ruinart’s cellar master since 2007. Over the years, he not only upheld the House’s signature style with passion and conviction, but also brought fresh momentum to its evolution, becoming one of its most devoted ambassadors.
