Lehmann Glass… The Wine Lover’s Label

06/15

According to the cellar masters, the vessel has to bring a supplement of seduction. The glass is to wine what a model is to Haute Couture! “The greatest Wine Houses need time for the elaboration of their cuvées; this is why it is essential to offer them proper tasting tools! Fine wines have to be respected.” — Gérard Lehmann

The rise of a brand

The wine glass contributes to enhance the aromas; it comes as logical continuity to the elaboration work. The content needs a vessel and vice versa, a notion Gérard Lehmann has understood well.
Glass designer for over 30 years at Verrerie de la Marne, he created numerous mouth-blown and mechanical collections. Over the years the firm set its experience and know-how in the service of the world’s greatest most distinguished wine and spirit Houses!

Since 2012, Gérard Lehmann decided to go one step further in the enological experimentation and to unite his expertise with Gérard Basset, Best Sommelier of the World 2010, to officially launch Lehmann Glass, the Wine Lover’s Label. Creators of experiences, together they give rise to concepts that transform wine tasting in a true Symphony of Senses.

VINALIES, be Classic!

Aesthetics, balance, general curve and glass quality are key elements that influence perfume, intensity and precision of the tasting.
Aware of these postulates, Lehmann Glass and Union des Oenologues de France collaborated to conceive a unique concept of 3 enological glasses; a red, white and rosé, and a sparkling wine glass. Subsequently, the VINALIES collection was extended in order to meet the requirements and expectations of restaurateurs.
Vinalies glasses are ideal for accurate observation of the colour and their stem length avoids the warming of the wine. As for their classic curves, they were designed to appreciate the aromatic elements at their best. Vinalies has become one of the essential tool for tasting!

The ratio Sv/Sb highly influences the aromatic density in the headspace.
Sb : Rim opening surface of the glass
Sv : Contact surface air/wine in the glass

(1) Oenomust glass / (2) Lambda glass

“The geometric parameters of the Oenomust glass offer an aromatic density up to 50% higher than any other standard tasting glass. This property positions the Oenomust glass as a tasting tool which enhances the nose of a wine and consequently does improve the tasting pleasure,” Gérard Liger-Belair explains.

OENOMUST, be Different!

The quest for excellence of the brand Lehmann Glass led Gérard Lehmann to experiment an unusual meeting between originality and enology. A collection of unique glasses was born, OENOMUST! “Tradition, Modernity & Expertise!”
The perfect shape of this glass touches upon all aspects of wine tasting and fulfills the expectations of wine lovers. When the wine is poured, the Oenomust proves excellent:
To the eye, the wine perfectly reveals its colour. The generous shape Gérard Lehmann designed allows rotation and easy controlled oxygenation of the wine, without splashing out of the glass.
To the nose, the Oenomust’s upper rounded section, which narrows as it reaches the lip, concentrates and increases the density of the flavours to provide exceptional richness.
In the mouth, the fineness of the rim brings out all the wine’s flavours.

The scientific recognition

Gérard Liger-Belair, renowned PhD in chemistry and director of the Effervescence, Champagne and Applications team of Reims University thoroughly studied the specific features of the Oenomust glass in order to get a better understanding of how the shape of a wine glass enhances tasting.
