The head sommelier of Meridien Beach Plazza succeeds Patrice Frank who works at Hôtel de Paris and who finishes his third term of presidency.
After nine years spent at the head of the Association of Sommeliers of Monaco (AMS), Patrice Frank has since long decided to hand over the mission. The AMS general meeting held at Meridien Beach Plazza enabled him to take stock of his three terms before the election of the new president was organized. This association that is just back from a 4-day trip in the Bordeaux vineyard has the specificity to be both a national structure therefore member of Association de la Sommellerie Internationale and a regional chapter of the French Sommellerie. “Through the last years, our image has been strengthened thanks to the important role we played in the organization of the European ASI contest then in hosting the French regional delegations.”
Nevertheless, even in the Principality, it is difficult to mobilize the members for important events such as tastings and visits of the vineyards. Something that Patrice Frank regrets and that
Dominique Milardi, only candidate for the presidency, wishes to make evolve. Elected unanimously, the one who represented Monaco at three international competitions (the worldchampionships in Tokyo and Mendoza, and the European in San Remo) set his candidacy under the signs of training, communication and participation. “We have to professionalize our association thanks to everybody’s skills.”
Among his objectives, an action plan that aims at supporting on a human and finacial level the candidate for the world competition to be held in 2019 in Belgium. “We are going to organize a selection and I wish to privide real support to the future candidate and his alternate. By the way we are going to be helped by other associations like from Jura and Lyon for the preparation, and ask the support of Piero Sattanino, Italian Best Sommelier of the World, living close to Monaco. This presence on the international scene is one of my priorities.”
