World Strasbourg
The 2008 “Riesling Wines of the World” CompetitionThe 11th event of this competition, held on January 28th at the Concert and Conference Hall in Strasbourg, aimed to present awards for the fine qualities and originality of Riesling wines throughout the world.
From Canada to Argentina, as well as New Zealand and Tasmania, each terroir bestows special characteristics upon this grape variety. We should not forget Alsace and Germany, proud representatives of Riesling, or Israel, unsuspected producer of this golden variety, which presents the ‘Tishbi Estate’ in Galilee. In total, the event welcomed 300 wine firms and 13 different countries were represented this year.
The winners that won an excellence trophy at the competition in 2007 and 2008 will be presented as star wines at EGAST (professional exhibition for equipment, gastronomy and services), a forthcoming event to be held in Strasbourg from March 9th to 12th 2008.
The next event to note is ‘Pinot Gris and Gewurtztraminer Wines of the World’, to be held on Monday 2nd June 2008!
