Champagne Sylvie Moreau

— Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut —

In Saint-Euphraise, in the heart of the Vallée de l’Ardre, the Moreau family has cultivated a deep bond with the vine for over sixty years. A visionary, André Moreau replanted his first vines in 1962, laying the foundations of an estate that his daughter Sylvie and her husband Olivier later took over with passion. Today, a new generation is continuing the story: Alexandre carries the family legacy forward while gently shaping it with his own signature style. Remaining faithful to their heritage, the family has made environmental stewardship their main challenge. Guided by a profound respect for the soil and all living things, the estate has been certified organic since 2023 and is managed with minimal intervention.

At Champagne Sylvie Moreau, the goal is to craft distinctive wines that allow the terroir to speak for itself. Among their cuvées, the Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut, harvested in 2019, perfectly embodies this philosophy. Composed of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Meunier from the Montagne de Reims and Vallée de l’Ardre, it is produced using low-intervention methods: pressing in a traditional 4,000-kg press, cold settling, temperature-controlled stainless-steel fermentation, and no filtration or fining. With a dosage of 2.8 g/l, it reflects the purity of the vintage and the natural ripeness of the grapes harvested at optimal maturity. Produced in only 987 bottles, this Blanc de Noirs cuvée reveals the depth and character of its terroir with remarkable precision.

Tasting review

Color: light copper hues with fine, luminous bubbles.
Nose: cherry and ripe raspberry, followed by notes of compote and small dark fruits, lifted by delicate sweet spices.
Palate: the attack is direct and powerful, driven by the Meunier and Pinot Noir. The palate shows beautiful roundness, balanced by lively, almost mineral freshness. The finish is long and expressive, marked by a noble hint of bitterness and lingering red-fruit notes.
Pairing: perfect with seared or tataki-style tuna, sesame, and a light balsamic reduction.
