Raimonds Tomsons is the new Best Sommelier of the World!

13/02/2023

He had dreamed of it since 2019 when he finished 3rd in the competition in Antwerp, Raimonds Tomsons did it and became the 17th Best Sommelier of the World.

If France, the competition's organizing country, came in large numbers to support its candidate Pascaline Lepeltier, it was on the 4th step that the sommelier bowed to the 3 finalists: Raimonds Tomsons, Best Sommelier of Europe 2017, Latvia, Nina Jensen, Denmark, both already finalists at the 2019 world competition, and Reeze Choi, China.

After being able to appreciate their service capacities, their ability to taste and recognize quality elixirs (including Petrus 2012 and 2003) and above all their self-control in the face of pressure, the jury awarded the bronze medal to Reeze Choi, the silver to Nina Jensen and made Raimonds Tomsons their new champion. A great reward for this enthusiast who has worked tirelessly to gain confidence and reach the top step of the podium.

In a spirit of sharing and camaraderie, Marc Almert, Best Sommelier of the World 2019, offered his successor the Ouvre-Vin Empreinte by the artist Michel Audiard, sculpted on his hand. A nice way to pass the torch!
