Orfèvre du Val

Vin de France blanc 2020

Château Petit Val is the story of two wine lovers, Jean-Louis and Olivia Alloin, who decide to return to their roots by investing in a Bordeaux vineyard. It's a lovely nod to Jean-Louis, the son and grandson of artisans from the Beaujolais region.

It's also the story of a beautiful encounter, the one between the couple and David Liorit, a passionate consultant and winemaker. Their aspiration is to combine expertise and passion to elevate Château Petit Val to the status of Grand Crus of excellence.

With the cuvée Orfèvre du Val Blanc, presented as a Saint-Émilion variation of Riesling, they pay homage to Olivia Alloin's Alsatian origins.

Located on the finest terroirs of the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation, the vines, cultivated sustainably, are planted on three plots of 10 ares, composed of clay and limestone, ranging from the foothills to the slopes, including a beautiful terraced vineyard planted with stakes.

This mosaic of terroirs imparts intense flavors to the cuvée, produced in limited quantities of 1,700 bottles, thanks to a cold maceration and ageing in Eggonum wooden tanks and glass wine globes.

Tasting Review

Color: golden yellow with golden reflections.
Nose: intense and delicate, with delightful exotic notes of pineapple, papaya, and mango, opening up to citrus notes of bergamot and grapefruit, with a touch of white flowers, acacia, and honeysuckle.
Palate: incredibly fresh, supported by a lovely, round and suave fruit. The finish is enhanced by a very delicate hint of bitterness.
Pairing: pan-seared foie gras.
Comment: a delicate, fresh, and delicious wine, truly delightful!
