From the first tastings, the 2022 vintage of Château Angelus has established itself among the most accomplished vintages in its lineage.
240 years after the birth of the estate and a decade after the handover from Hubert de Boüard de Laforest to Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, Château Angelus enters a new era. “After ten years at the top of the wines of Saint-Émilion, the time had come for Château Angelus to continue its unique trajectory by breaking free from certain normative constraints, and to access another dimension, one entirely determined by an infinite demand and a quest for excellence in every detail”, said Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal.
Ten years after the precious black and gold bottle, the 2022 vintage bottle once again follows the tradition of jeweler craftsmanship with packaging achieved through a complex technical process allowing genuine gold (20 carats) and mother-of-pearl to literally imprint the glass. Struck by a flamboyant sun in the heart of the night, framed by two ellipses, its motifs inspired by constellations and astral revolutions offer a poetic evocation of the passage from the closed world to the infinite universe.
Bright, deep, dense robe, violet color. The disk is purple, tending towards dark violet. A wide range of fresh black fruits, an intense floral aspect reminiscent of violet. The palate is smooth, juicy, but also delicate and precise, marked by great freshness and the verticality of the Cabernet Franc. The wood, already well integrated, gives way to ripe, crunchy, and sapid fruit. The long and spicy finish, woven on tight and silky tannins, seems never to end. Great complexity and salinity, all in tension and freshness.
