Bouvet Ladubay, an epic of excellence

15/01/2024

Since its foundation in 1851, Bouvet-Ladubay has been a true historical monument of the fine bubbles of the Loire. Through 160 years of history and passion, the Saumur-based Maison has crafted numerous cuvées with unparalleled expertise, always guided by the motto of Etienne Bouvet, Excellence.

The specificity of the Saumur terroir lies in the clay-limestone richness of its soil and the presence of tuffeau in the subsoil. This Upper Cretaceous limestone rock absorbs winter precipitation and releases some of this water during long dry periods. The vine thus has a moderate and regular water supply essential for the perfect ripening of the grapes. Another quality of this terroir is its strong ability to store solar heat during the day and release it at night.

The Brut de Loire wines from Bouvet-Ladubay are made from 3 grape varieties: Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Franc.
