Prestige Tasting Lyon

05/06/2018
La Plateforme

For once, SommelierS International did not organized its tasting on land but on the Rhône river. In La Plateforme, formerly a river tanker with a majestic look, nicknamed “Admiral of the Rhône”, wines from Lyon, the Rhône Vallay, Languedoc-Roussillon, Provence, Corsica, Bordeaux, Beaujolais, Burgundy, Champagne, and even Georgia, were represented. A highly varied panel of cuvées, for the greatest pleasure of the wine tasters who had come. Wine merchants, restaurant owners, sommeliers, and naturally the regional association of sommeliers : Lyon-Rhône-Alpes, Alpes-Marseille-Provence, Burgundy, Languedoc-Roussillon and Auvergne illuminated this day rich in surprises though rainy. Welcome on board!

D-Vine, by 10-Vins

With D-Vine, 10-Vins  a company from Nantes - renews the idea of taking time to enjoy a glass of wine with friends. No need to open several bottles, everyone chooses his wine à la carte. This by-the-glass serving machine aerates and sets at temperature the wine of each bottle, thanks to the RFID technology. The bottles wear the chip that enable to indicate to the machine the temperature and the decanting to provide to the selected wine, like a sommelier would do. The instructions are simple: insert your bottle, put your glass, when the green light stops flashing, press on the sphere. Just enjoy!

Tastevins Seero,
l’orfèvre des vins

French leader of the traditional tastevin, Seero kindly offered all the participants a tastevin printed with the logo of SommelierS International. This small cup of silvery metal or sterling silver has been used since the 16th century for wine tasting. It has a flat bottom for white wines, a bulging bottom for red wines. On the edges of the tastevin, the ridges, bents or tears and the balls or cupules or cupulettes (according to the nature and the origin of the wine), participate to the examination of the wine. The opportunity also for Seero to make discover others treasure of silversmith’s trade such as the Burgundian cup (or wedding cup) or the plate clips, useful in the restaurants.
