Visual aspect: translucent with a garnet-red hue and ruby tinges.
Nose: aromas of red fruit, liquorice, Virginia tobacco, white pepper and sweet spices. Pleasant, skilfully proportioned woodiness. Tremendous richness.
Palate: a lovely pure first taste, it is supple. The flavours resemble the aromas and it gives a marvellous finish on very pleasant hints of liquorice.
Match with food: with an excellent piece of grilled red meat, accompanied by boletus mushrooms; grilled offal, freshwater fish; ribsteak with puréed Jerusalelm artichokes.
Comments: tremendous delicacy, it is round and harmonious; a magnificent Margaux, powerful and very well balanced with great ageing potential for a difficult vintage.
