Château Maison Noble Saint Martin

30/03/2017
In full progress in Entre-Deux-Mers

Château Maison Noble Saint Martin is nestled at the heart of the Entre-Deux-Mers region, at 60 km from Bordeaux. This is where Arvid Rosengren, Best Sommelier of the World 2016, finished his autumn wine tour in the Bordeaux vineyard. An estate with positive dynamics.

Bertrand Gonzalez et Arvid Rosengren

Driven by their passion for the vine and wine, manager of the château Bertrand Gonzalez and his team work the 75-hectare vineyard sustainably and seek harmony between the terroir, the men and the environment. The estate is totally independent from the pruning to the harvest and for bottling thanks to a strong mechanization. Each wine is then vinified, matured and stored in its own cellar, plot by plot, to respect its specificity.

Harmony and typicality that Jon Arvid could find in the range of wines produced by the estate in Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur for the red, Entre-Deux-Mers for the white and Bordeaux for the rosé.

“I think overall the wines of Château Maison Noble Saint Martin are clean, light and bright. The 2015 both the red and the white, and actually also the rosé, are very interesting. The white is very crisp, bright and aromatic, very well-made. I find the rosé very interesting actually. A very aromatically serious, gastronomic style of rosé. I wish more people had a taste for that kind of rosé. You can even age it for one or even two years. It will do pretty well.

The 500,000 bottles produced on average every year are available in two ranges in three colours: the Tradition and the Prestige in which the red Bordeaux Supérieur “Grand vin de Maison Noble Saint Martin” meets such a success that Bertrand Gonzalez decided in 2015 to increase the volume, and even more for the beautiful 2016. The château also proposes the cuvée “1345”, a red Bordeaux Supérieur in limited edition (833 bottles in 2014).

What is new also for Bertrand and his team is the purchase in last November of a new estate, Château de Launay in Soussac at 8 km from Château Maison Noble Saint Martin, with 57 hectares (20 ha of white grape varieties and 37 of red) in the Bordeaux and Entre-Deux-Mers appellations.

At last, Maison Noble Saint Martin is an attractive place for wine tourism close to Sauveterre de Guyenne: reception rooms within the château, 4 guest rooms (soon 6) at La Véranda de Maison Noble some kilometers away from the château, themed visits all year long to learn everything about winemaking and marketing, and a shop.
