A small family estate to discover

BODEGAS CORUÑA DEL CONDE, a small estate located in the village of the same name in the province of Burgos, was founded by Alberto López Calvo in 1992. In the early 50s he moved to France to dedicate himself for forty years the world of Bordeaux wine and French cooperage. After this long experience, Alberto López Calvo decided to come back to his native land to make his dream come true there. In 1990 he crafted his first wines and two years later he created his winery.

The vineyard is situated on the hillside of Alto Otero, in Coruña del Conde, 850 meters above sea level. Its 4 hectares are divided into 4 plots of land, on a clayey calcareous soil, enjoying a typically continental climate. Its wine-growing is ecological which allowed them to be granted with the ecological label in 2007.

Their wines have the characteristics of fine wines worth ageing. They are full-bodied, silky, with round tannins which combine to perfection the fruity and woody flavours in the mouth as well as in the nose. The 3 varieties Tempranillo (65%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) and Merlot (15%) compose this wine that is named after the founder of the cellar, a wine crafted in a ‘Bordeaux’ style.

Today, so as to preserve his grandfather’s heritage after he passed away in 2012, his grandson Julien has taken over the management of the 4-hectare vineyard with as much care, commitment and devotion.
