Champagnes Guide of Véron 2012

An original unique guide

The Guide Véron des Champagnes was initiated and realized by Michel Véron, professor of oenology.

Initially it was a project for teaching and of cultural dimension. For all Champagne amateurs and professionals of wining and dining, this work is an excellent taste and discovery companion.
The originality of this guide resides in its own essence: elaborated within the Lycée Viticole de Champagne, the guide is the result of training and of serious and enriching work, with the participation of the students of the Commercial BTS* in Wines and Spirits. These up and coming professionals took advantage of this unique experience as well as the privileged meetings with the producers to improve and to offer an original and relevant approach of Champagne tasting to the readers.
This tasting course is at the same time sensory, emotional and intellectual: the Champagnes were approached with the technical knowledge of their elaboration, thus enabling an in depth discovery of the products. The tasters could concentrate on their senses and fully appreciate this moment of pleasure. There were no notions of grading or comparison of the 50 selected Champagnes here; they were merely classified alphabetically and by order of price. Proposing more than simple comments of tasting, each Champagne is the opportunity of a true meeting with its developer, in order to truly comprehend the wine procedures and oenological implementations.

Resulting from these moments dedicated to the understanding of the wines, were real favourites, ‘coup de Coeur’, which are delivered to the readers in this 2012 guide. To allow the amateurs to easily find the quoted producers and their Champagnes, the geographical co-

ordinates, situations and QR-codes are referred to in a clear and practical way.

This guide is addressed to all the people, French- and English-speaking, eager to discover excellent Champagnes through a professional and human approach, to in turn discover these wines and to awaken their senses.
Lastly, we are happy to announce that the 2013 edition of Guide Véron des Champagnes, currently in preparation, will be published in partnership with the Sommeliers International magazine.
