The Disznóko Wine Esate revives TokayThe Disznóko estate, named “Wild Boar’s Rock”, covers 100 hectares in one single plot of land and stands in a glorious location in the southern part of Tokay, Hungary’s most well-known winegrowing region. Disznók_ has been owned by the French group AXA-Millésimes since 1992.
The assured reputation of this estate’s wines is the result of all the efforts contributed by the team of skilled professionals managed by Laszlo Meszaros.
Laszlo Meszaros is a genuine wine lover. He studied to qualify as an agricultural engineer in Hungary & Toulouse and now successfully runs the Disznóko vineyard, using the most up-to-date technology associated with traditions of the past. The vineyard facing directly south is protected in the north by the Zemplen Mountain and when autumn begins it benefits from heavy early morning mists that come from the confluence of the two rivers, Tisza and Bodrog. The vines also enjoy warm west/east winds which blow in from the vast Hungarian plain in during the day.
All these factors provide optimal conditions for the development of noble rot.
On clay soils, combined with volcanic rock that possesses a rich content of minerals, the two main grape varieties, Furmint and Hárslevel_, along with a new variety named Zeta, have the best potential to develop a full range of fine wines. The vineyard therefore provides us with the pleasure of savouring dry whites (Furmint), late harvests (Szamorodni), Aszús (with varying numbers of puttonyos) and the divine nectar, Eszencia.
They really are a store of the most marvellous sensations in the world, endlessly leading our eye from pale yellow to amber yellow, passing by a shade of Gold and old Gold; our tastebuds revel in a succession of flavours ... grapefruit, almond, apricot and our palate floats endlessly in a complex world of fig, citrus, honey and dried fruits. The perfect balance of these fresh, sweet wines remains constantly invariable.
Since 2002, wine-making at Disznók_ as well as the natural environment with its architectural heritage and traditions, rightfully have their place amongst the World’s Heritage Sites.

This marvellous universe of the senses that provides such exponential enjoyment truly obliges us to believe that for Tokay a sixth sense should exist.
