Craigellaghie

A Speyside single malt
of exceptional quality

The distillery of Craigellachie Single Malt is located
in the heart of Speyside, perched on “The Rock of Speyside”, it overhangs the meeting of rivers Fiddich and Spey,
between the cities of Rothes, Dufftown and Aberlour.

Developed by Alexander Edward and Peter Mackie in 1891, the Craighellachie distillery was always described as “old-fashioned”. A thing is sure, they always do things their way! Some people could call them stubborn eccentrics, but they simply remained faithful to their traditions and shall not change without a good reason.
The major example of this traditional production is that they still use worm tubs as condensors : a circular network of copper pipes that runs inside a cold water tank. Unique for a Speyside Whiskey, Craigellaghie’s malted barley is fermented in an oil stove, which gives it a very fragrant style with sulphurous and smoky notes. At Craigellachie, the malt is very well-balanced, powerful, sturdy and full-bodied; its distinctive and very peculiar character allows it to compete with whiskeys of twice its age.

The distillery deliberately does not install modern production techniques. Craighellaghie is determinedly a unique whiskey, renowned for his sulphurous aroma and challenging the styles. It is a single malt for those who know how to manage big flavours. If you have tasted all the peated malt, it's now time to give way to Craighellaghie.

Very well-balanced with flavours of orchard and flowers. Notes of tropical fruits and toasted almond. The finish is warm and of average length, with a wooden touch of apple tree wood in the aftertaste.
A single malt that will be much appreciated in France … Charlynne Zirah
