Clos des Bergeronneau:

nestled in Villedommange

A sublime place and very expressive Champagnes already awarded for their distinctiveness.

It is as they dreamt it. Elegant, soothing, attractive. Coiled up in the heart of the village of Villedommange among vines, church, and beautiful private houses, the Clos des Bergeronneau is a world apart in the Reims Mountain vineyard. Florent, Véronique and their two children Virginie and Fabien like to spend some quiet time, invite their guests, share special moments there with them. “It has become an important stopover during the visit of our estate” Florent Bergeronneau-Marion recognizes. He expresses a discreet proudness, nearly restraint, when simply evoking this great Champagne success.
The Clos des Bergeronneau was born in 2007. It has a surface area of 2.1 hectares composed of 75% of Pinot Meunier and 25% of Pinot Noir, now surrounded by railings, hedges and beautifully renovated low walls. The place is magic. It offers an uncomparable sight on this part of the Champagne vineyard located at some ten kilometers from Reims and nearly twenty from Epernay.
Florent Bergeronneau and his wife cultivate there old vines of more than 65 years that are used together with plots of Pinot Meunier to make since 2007 a powerful and well-balanced cuvée that little by little finds a place on the wine lists of great restaurants.
Remarkably facing southeast, the Clos Bergeronneau gives particularly elegant wines. Plants are low, bunches do not touch each other and yields are moderate. There, maturation is ideal and diseases are rare. “Our first cuvée has been made with the 2007 harvest that we did not market as a vintage wine. I reckon that we were satisfied by the results” Florent Bergeronneau says. The cuvée “Le Clos”, mainly with Pinot Meunier, develops very expressive scents of fresh fruit and already ranks among the Champagnes to be laid down. “It is very well-structured and has already received numerous awards. It is sent to many countries in Europe as well as to Japan” the wine grower underlines.

An idyllic place

Véronique and Florent Bergeronneau-Marion consider this investment as a symbol. Both from wine grower families from the Reims Mountain and Saint-Thierry Hills, they keep reaching excel-
lence thanks to patient work, a lot of rigour and above all, infinite passion.
“We love the land, the vinification and participate in numerous fairs and actions in cellars” Florent Bergeronneau explains.
The estate is the case and the Clos is now the jewel. Everything is done to enable the visitor to discover it with intense pleasure. There the Bergeronneau built a small terrace near
a hut, where it is possible to taste Champagne and even to organize a picnic.
An idyllic place - nearly out of time- where you can spend long hours appreciating the bucolic landscape of
the Champagne region. “It is a place for pleasure” Florent Bergeronneau says. He loves to share this suspended hours with his visitors. The opportunity to talk about his practices, the care given to the environment, about all his cuvées among which the Blanc de Noirs matured in oak barrels.
And about future: Virginie has just passed her A-levels and prepares to enter a viticulture and trade vocational degree near Mâcon, and Fabien is in his second year of viticulture and oenology at the Maison Familiale in Gionges, near Epernay.
