La Belle Gabrielle,

a great woman yesterday ... a great CUVEE todaY

It is early, the sun still hides, the mist shades off colors. Just a sound, that of the water caressing the rocks ... Take your time, look, feel, enjoy this moment ... You are in Essoyes, a small village of the Champagne region ...

A great painter, Pierre Auguste Renoir, stopped there one day. A first inspiration, a first painting, a growing passion, a deep attachment to these unique places, to these so pure landscapes... For the artist, it is an incredible revelation.

Meetings. A meeting ... Gabrielle ...

“La Belle Gabrielle”. This woman is a housekeeper for the family Renoir, and a nurse for Jean, the future great film-maker. She quickly became an endless source of ideas, the major model, and Pierre Auguste Renoir’s muse. She appears in more than 160 of his paintings. “Gabrielle à la Rose”, in particular, that will be one of his last works.

Each of the cuvees of Maison Charles Collin has a story and every story starts the same way: in the vineyards. Today, it is all eyes turned towards this woman, this icon, to dedicate a great vintage of Champagne to her, being also inspired by its environment, its vineyard, its soil, cradle of Gabrielle, a daughter of the region.

The cuvee “La Belle Gabrielle” is the culmination of long years of work, patience, and passion. Thought that was shared by Pierre Auguste Renoir: “... This drawing took me five minutes, but I needed sixty years to get there”...

Dominated by its 85% Chardonnay, this wine combines elegance, freshness and delicacy. On the nose, the 15% Pinot Noir prevail, bringing an amazing aromatic complexity. The taste is surprising in its power, tonic effect and length, for a warmer final.
